Dr. Cris Toffolo, PhD

Dr Cris directs the Office of International Programs (OIP) at Northeastern Illinois University (NEIU) in Chicago. Cris is responsible for advancing the comprehensive internationalization of NEIU. OIP helps international students from the time they begin to apply, while they are studying, and afterward during the OPT program. Cris has also served NEIU as a professor and department chair in Justice Studies teaching human rights, theories of justice, and social change. She is active in NEIU’s Center for Genocide and Human Rights Research in Africa & the Diaspora (GHRAD). Cris served three terms as board co-chair of the Peace and Justice Studies Association (PJSA) of North America, and she is a founding board member of both the Truth Telling Project for Ferguson & Beyond, and Educating for Global Peace (EGP). Cris has worked, taught, and done research around the world and holds a doctorate from the University of Notre Dame in politics.
